Conrad Tokyo Review: A Birthday Stay, Lounge Tea and Bay Views
Practical information checked 15 September 2026
A birthday greeting across the bed brings a personal occasion into Conrad Tokyo’s city setting.
I celebrated my birthday at Conrad Tokyo with a message across the bed, tea in the Executive Lounge and Tokyo beyond the windows. This Shiodome stay gave the hotel itself a place in my trip.
The only downside for me is being a little out of the action, but Conrad Tokyo has the lounge I miss at Waldorf Astoria Osaka.

Conrad’s dressed character gifts add a playful detail to the birthday welcome.Cake, sweets and a handwritten message make the celebration part of the room.Flower-shaped sweets meet Taka’s less-than-serious approach to a birthday portrait.
A birthday with room to be playful
My birthday began with a greeting across the bed, character gifts, a small cake and flower-shaped sweets. I added my own contribution by posing with the sweets; a grand hotel does not require a solemn face in every photograph.
For travellers planning a celebration, the useful lesson is to discuss the occasion before arrival. Ask what can be arranged, what it costs and when it will be ready. My birthday setup records this stay; the same decorations and gifts are not a standard entitlement.

Choose the view as carefully as the room
Conrad Tokyo offers very different views depending on which side you are looking towards. I had close-up views of the Shiodome towers as well as a more open outlook towards the gardens and Tokyo Bay. If a view is a big part of the appeal, I would make the exact room category one of the first things to check before booking.
If the bay is the main attraction, make the view category an explicit part of the booking. A hotel’s signature panorama does not establish the outlook from every room. My booked category and any upgrade have not been confirmed, so these photographs should guide your questions rather than identify a room to reserve.
A red Conrad bear brings a small flash of character to the water service.
The little bear earns its place
The red Conrad bear beside my water glasses joined the dressed character gifts in the birthday story. These small details brought a playful side to the room. I could enjoy the setting without taking myself too seriously.
Special gifts can vary between visits. If a particular keepsake matters to you, ask the hotel about availability rather than building an expectation around my photograph.
Drinks and savoury selections in Conrad Tokyo’s Executive Lounge, with the city beyond.
Executive Lounge tea: make room for the afternoon
I had the tea, drinks, small sandwiches and savoury selections in the Executive Lounge. That visit gave me a pause at the hotel between outings. I would consider lounge access when I have an afternoon available to use it.
Lounge access depends on your booking and applicable benefits. Check eligibility and the service schedule for your dates before paying extra: a lounge-inclusive rate has less practical value if you will be sightseeing during its food services. TwentyEight is a separate venue; this lounge visit is not a review of its afternoon tea.
A layered egg dish from the stay’s dining diary; the venue is unconfirmed.A folded omelette with sauce, recorded separately from the Executive Lounge tea.Breakfast by the window gives the city view a place at the table.
Breakfast deserves its own chapter
An omelette by the window makes a different scene from the lounge spread. The other plates include a folded omelette with sauce and a layered egg dish. Keeping these meals separate matters: the dining venues for the individual egg dishes have not been confirmed, so they cannot establish what a particular lounge or restaurant serves.
When comparing rates, check whether breakfast is included, where it is served and whether it covers everyone in the room. The separate dining diary brings the meal photographs together without treating every plate as part of one service.
Who should spend more to stay here?
Conrad Tokyo is a candidate for a celebration or a city break where the room, view and meals are part of the itinerary. A traveller leaving early and returning only to sleep has a different calculation: compare a simpler hotel near the stations you will use most.
Compare the total price for the same dates, view, breakfast, lounge eligibility and cancellation terms. My paid rate is not recorded, so I cannot substantiate a cash-versus-points verdict. Hilton also lists a pool and Mizuki Spa; I have not reviewed their use on this stay. Confirm availability if either is central to your plans.
The hotel is in Shiodome, at 1-9-1 Higashi-Shinbashi, Minato-ku. Its official access guide gives about one minute on foot from Shiodome Station and seven from Shimbashi. From Tokyo Station, travel to Shimbashi and follow the hotel’s walking map.
For Haneda or Narita, check a journey planner for your arrival time and luggage needs. A taxi can simplify the final transfer; for driving, confirm the hotel entrance, parking charge and vehicle limits. Shiodome is a useful base for the bay side of our Tokyo guide, while Shinjuku and Asakusa still need their own journeys.
